In a recent Global HR Think Tank webinar, NetExpat met with corporate client thought leaders to discuss the value of internal partnerships, the strategic role of mobility in achieving business goals, flexibility in competitive mobility programs, and anticipated mobility volumes in 2024. Here’s what Ken Brown, Mobility Strategy Lead, Takeda; Tracy Paech, Head of Cross Border Workforce, Bayer; and Romuald Roger, Global Head of International Mobility, Lonza, shared about their organizations and industries:
As we discussed in our recent blog post, Four Mobility Challenges to be Prepared for in 2024, everyone benefits when employee well-being is prioritized in global mobility and talent management. And since cost control remains a high priority with most organizations, spending intentionally is key to
achieving both goals. How can companies ensure a positive employee experience while being
mindful of their bottom line? Care-flex mobility models go beyond duty of care, providing both the benefits that are required for a successful relocation — and customizing the benefits and services that each employee and accompanying family member will need, unique to their own individual relocation scenarios. This intentional spending furthers customization by saving companies money, allowing them to provide the kinds of valuable settling-in and intercultural training benefits that help employees worry less about integrating into their new environments and focus more readily on their new roles — faster.
"Cost control is a key objective for most organizations, so presenting a sound business case for leadership’s financial investment in technology or training — or simply approving a change to the way things have always been done — will always be key to securing their needed buy-in. When your business case shows projected efficiencies and potential savings over the long-run, everybody wins: mobility demonstrates its value and the business benefits from the innovation and partnership that mobility is uniquely positioned to provide."
- Tracy Paech, Head of Cross Border Workforce, Bayer
As many companies conduct mergers and acquisitions and/or shift between localized and globalized mobility models,
developing strong partnerships with internal IT departments has become an important tool in
mobility managers’ toolkits. By collaborating with IT professionals — and leveraging their valued platforms and vendors — it’s often possible to streamline processes, consolidate systems, and even remove some of the administrative time needed to initiate and execute total mobility-related action
steps. Because technology (and AI, specifically) is evolving faster than mobility professionals can
keep up, partnership with IT professionals has become an advantage to overtasked mobility teams that are navigating the changing landscape of mobility. Likewise, partnering to present sound business cases for the effective use of technology will also be important to secure leadership buy-in.
