As our client, a trusted hygiene, health, and nutrition company, came to NetExpat to improve the “family” relocation experience and to be a positive lever to encourage greater diversity amongst their mobile population.
Our client was receiving feedback from families that support for non-working partners was nonexistent and the business shared constructive criticism that mobility policies and approaches didn't feel entirely inclusive.
To support our client, we reviewed their approach to supporting relocating partners; they also engaged with their internal DEI team to ensure that the amended policies were seen through the lens of inclusivity and equity.
The new policy approach ensured that every relocating partner (inclusivity) would be offered support, regardless of whether they were working or not. Support would feel different depending on the needs of each partner (equality) but support would be available. This was subsequently extended to include 1:1 support for unaccompanied employees who required assistance with integrating into their new community.
With 71% of failed assignments linked to partner unhappiness¹, the impact of these changes has been seen and felt immediately through delivery of 1:1 support to ALL relocating partners: Expat families are settling in faster and reporting a more positive employee experience, while our client is benefitting from improved long-term talent retention. A win, win, win!
